Look after your jeans… Dark denim

Hey boys and girls,

Looking at buying a new pair of mens darkwash jeans? Well to keep them looking as good as new once you’ve got them, we’ve got a few hints and tips on how a little extra care can go a long way in extending the life and look of your favourite dark denim.

Duck and Cover JeansJack and Jones All Lane jeans

Firstly, we recommend you ALWAYS check the label on your jeans! If in doubt stick to what the manufacturers guidelines are for that particular pair of jeans and you shouldn’t go wrong.

1. Now then, you’re going to want to remove everything from your jeans, including yourself, before you wash your jeans, so empty your pockets of any wrappers, bus tickets, mobile phones and loose change.
Any thing that could potentially ruin your jeans and your washing machine (if the jeans are brand new then we recommend you wash them before you even wear them as any excess dye can easily transfer on to footwear and t-shirts).

2. Turn your jeans inside out – this helps prevent any fading and transfer of colour.

3. Pop them in the washing machine (try to wash jeans with other jeans and also to wash light and dark jeans seperately)

4. Wash on a cool setting.

5. When finished, take them out, turn them the correct way round and hang them up – this will help “shape” the jeans.

6. We recommend air dying the jeans outside on a washing line, but a clothes rack indoors is fine – bear in mind jeans tend to vary in the length of time they take to dry, so plan ahead if your wanting them for a night out.

7. Some jeans may be suitable for tumble drying – but we advise sticking to the manufacturers guidelines.

Some important information:

- Hot water and jeans don’t mix. If you wash your jeans in hot water, they may shrink and fade!
- NEVER use bleach when washing your jeans as this will cause fading, discoloration and uneven blotches.
- To avoid fabric dye transfer, wash your jeans separately, apart from other types of clothing.
